While I am waiting for my USB drive to come in the mail containing quite a few Tibeto-Burman grammars amongst others, I am wondering if anyone has any significant information on Tibeto-Burman lying around to help me work on a Tibeto-Burman conlang. I did find an online interface to STEDT, which will provide quite a bit of information on PTB roots and forms in reconstructed and present-day Tibeto-Burman languages. However, this does not say much about the structure of Tibeto-Burman languages, which so far I have only two grammars to go off of and no information on what is reconstructed for past Tibeto-Burman languages.

(Note that I am not looking for grammars, of which I soon will have plenty, as much as things on the structure of Tibeto-Burman languages.)

From looking at the little of Sino-Tibetan: A Conspectus that Google Books would allow me to read I was able to work out that aspiration in many Tibeto-Burman languages operated in terms that plosives at the start of words, either just voiceless ones or both voiceless and voiced ones, were aspirated by default and were only deaspirated by many prefixes coming before them (but not all prefixes, e.g. m- and ʔǝ- in Tibetan still allowed aspiration, and r- and s- in Burmese also allowed aspiration). Note though in some languages voiced stops became unaspirated voiceless stops, while in others voiceless stops often became voiced stops.

The system I am going to use is going to be relatively conservative, in that voiceless stops will become aspirated word-initially except after prefixes except after some of m-, ʔǝ-, r-, and/or s-, except that they will be deaspirated in affixes. Voiced stops will be preserved but deaspirated.

Are you making an actual Sino-Tibetan/Tibeto-Burman Lang now?

Well I most likely have enough Sino-Tibetan grammars now, so what I am now interested on things that cover Sino-Tibetan in a broader fashion. I have one document that covers broader ST diachronic phonology and to a lesser extent morphology, but I want more broader information than I have.
