By bizarre chance I actually know a bit about the politics of UIC's humanities programs, having known someone who went through them. In a word: rejoice. Their ancient languages departments were dwindling a few years ago and are probably now completely dead, thanks to an administration that decided to focus on contemporary social studies and eschew history. Any prestige the place has is probably gone. (Also it's all done inside a single massive obelisk of mid-century Brutalist horror, so you're not exactly missing a desirable experience.)
