You will notice that I haven't the faintest idea of what pole is doing and wasn't aware that there is even such a thing as a Linguistics Olympiad.

Live and learn~

Interestingly enough, having experienced a several-day forum absence and a major drift towards the depth of the Real Life recently, I am still one of the spammest users of the a.ca. Great Scott!

I am going to have my first travel via an airplane. What should I care about?

Take a coat or a fleece sweater with you. On the few flights I've had so far, they always put the AC on colder than what would be comfortable. Also, next time I fly, I'll definitely take one of those neck pillows with me because you can't really rest your head comfortably anywhere.

Don't bring batteries in your pocket (for the Gameboy Advance you may have in your hands, for example), because Security will inspect you. Learned this the hard way.

Also, make sure your electronic gadgets have enough power to shut them on and off at the demand of the TSA officer. Otherwise, you are a terrorist because your empty battery is probably in actuality a bomb. If you have any metal parts in your clothing, be sure to put the clothing items in a box for x-raying.

@Querubin: What about the batteries inside my pocket torch? Can I have it on the plane?

@Jipí: My trousers have a metal button and sorta rivets. Will I have to take them off?

I want to sarcastically answer that they want you to go through security naked, but no. Little things like buttons don't seem to matter. However, a mere 3 decorative rivets on each of my shoes made the alarm of the metal detector go off and I had to get a complete pat-down.

it depends where you are going

if you are not going to America you probably do not need to worry about anything except not carrying sharp objects or liquids on you because they will be confiscated

if you are then good luck

America? Why would I have to go to America?
I live in Poland, so civilized countries are more appealing to me.

I am going to Beijing, via Zurich.

I see now that Pole is a man after my own heart. Let us share a bottle of Wódka in friendship! (Or 白酒. I am fine with both.)
