Woo! I'm liking this. Time to start picking loci!

My personal preference is for the pseudo-Mediterranean:

The giant Japan in the far east is also intriguing.

My concern is that players might become too diffuse if we have too many loci. I suggest that we pick only a single locus and make the rest of the world inhabited by hunter-gatherers or not inhabited at all. This is not to say that they shouldn't be worked on, but that they not take up as much attention.

I'd say two regions for now, maybe add a third later.

Then let's do that—we can have a western region, as Hurq outlined, and an eastern region, in the island chain(s) on the other side of the mainland. I dub these pseudo-Peleponnesos and pseudo-Nippon, respectively.

I think that all too often collabs become pastiches as opposed to cohesive works. I believe, furthermore, that this tendency hurts the very idea of a collab, and turns it into more of a sidebyside aparthaid conworlding thingamajig: I fear this will happen to CCC over at the zeeb.
It is in this spirit that I can think of a good compromise: how about we start with two much smaller loci... (though one would be fine) but also decide that there are as many others as we want: I mean, Earth by this time period had a shitload of civilizatory centers: China, the Middle East, Greece and Northern Africa, at the very least.

I propose that PP be restricted to this bit.
bit.png
I mean, that bit is rather the same size as the Middle East, is midway from the poles to the equator <as Europe and in general primary civilizatory centers are> and also should have enough climate diversity.  <I really ought to get around to figuring out where has which climate... unless someone else wants to>.

Proposed tinier PP vs. afroeurasia

I think its quite large enough. That and only one of the big neojapans <of which there is about two, each one twice as long as Japan> ought to give us enough room for quite a bit of time.

One area is perfect fine with me—definitely better than disintegrated isolation.

My reasoning for two was to not just have Random Hunter-Gatherer Barbarian Tribe #s 1-46 to encounter as civilization expands. Perhaps two loci rather closer together?

Also, which way does the planet spin? If it's the same as Earth, Pseudo-Peloponessos isn't going to get very much in the way of rain or rivers probably, due to the huge mountains to its West/Northwest; weather systems bunch up on the western edge of the mountains and dump all their water there, which then creates rivers on that side. If it's opposite to earth, we've got a much better shot at it being reasonably moist there, but not utterly soaking it, which would put it quite in line with most of our examples of early civilization: Egypt (desert but with huge river), Sumer/Mesopotamia (near-desert but with two huge rivers), Northern China (dry-ish area next to desert with a reasonably-sized river), and Mesoamerica (started in the tropical plains of the Gulf of Mexico).

Also, for the second location, I was thinking along the opposite end of the E-W mountains Pseudo-Peloponessos sits below, possibly including the island just south of it.

I wouldn't be bothered by making pseudo-Nippon the land of the setting sun, and separating them, but not too much, seems like a good middle ground. Do you mind circling the area you're talking about, though?

Torco, Greece, the Middle East, and north Africa were all in contact with each other, but I get your point.

I definitely think we should have other cultures ad civilizations spring up in other places as well... I just think its much better that we do it place-by-place as opposed to having a bunch of unconnected things.

That seems good to me. Should we pick these two places and expand to more only if and when the need arises?

Yes, and let's start with pseudo-Peleponnesos to keep the segregatory effect totally under control.

N.B.—I've started work on language families; they're not ready for use yet though. Don't panic when you see the universe edit interface.
