The Konurese once ruled a large swath of land - an empire of their own - in the southwest of the Eastern Continent, until the Talurmen conquered them. The Talurmen split this former empire in half to make it harder for the Konurese to consolidate and rebel. West Konuru is Konuru proper, where actual Konurese people live. The majority of East Konuru's populace is not even remotely Konurese, and they're not happy that their new overlords simply regard them as a subset of their old overlords.

The actual Konurese are based on the Japanese, and the peoples they conquered in what is now East Konuru are based on West African peoples such as the Yoruba.

Before the Talurmen came along and enforced their script, the Konurese language was written in a script based on Samantean Hieroglyphs.
