Jami Province
Anthologica Universe Atlas / Universes / Maikros / The Talurmen Empire/Eastern Continent / Jami Province

The Jami are hardly one people - as fractious and aggressive as the Mesopotamians that inspired them. However, they do have certain cultural ties that can bring them together. For instance, a general hatred of necromancy that served as the ideological reasoning for a Jamic coalition against the Samantean civilization. The Samanteans, loosely based on the Ancient Egyptians, built the first civilization on Maikros. They were heavily into necromancy, and even developed techniques to ward off the insanity that usually goes with it. None of this really mattered to the Jami, who just saw a bunch of mages who must have obviously been evil, since they were making dead bodies get up and walk around and build things. Oh, and these mages also ruled over an extremely fertile river and were quite wealthy. But that had nothing to do with it. No way.

Desert-dwelling tribal nomadic Jami had always given the Samanteans trouble, as horseback nomads are wont to do, but it was nothing they couldn't deal with. But once the nomads had the backing and organization of their sedentary cousins, the Samanteans had to deal with the first real invasion they'd ever faced. It was a hard fight, but they lost. If their old trading partners to the south hadn't blown themselves up or something centuries prior, maybe they could have called in aid, but alas..

The Samanteans, by the way, are not Jamic, just to be clear. But they have been subject to Jami for about two and a half millennia now, and the Talurmen for about six and a half centuries.

Also, what is now Ticondera, on Salenzis, was once attached to what is now the Jami province. It was moved by the Onyx Dragon, about 3700 years ago.
