History

In the beginning, the Universe was created. This made many people very angry, and has since been widely criticised as a bad idea.

Much later, on the planet that is now known as Rireinu, a local species of primate with pronounced sexual dimorphism achieved sentience. Or at least the female of the species did. The males, about half the size of females, remained innocent of such things as language, abstract thought, and what to give your mother-in-law for her birthday. Somewhere along the line the females lost most of their body hair, and gained psionic powers.

All the usual things happened that sentient species go through: tools were made and refined, animals and plants were domesticated, religions and philosophies formulated, art was created, empires rose and fell. About 500 local years ago the Federation of Haru unified the planet under a single government.

The Rireinukave have expanded into space in the recent centuries. There are numerous satellites in orbit around Rireinu, both government and commercial, for communications, navigation, weather tracking, and many other purposes. Usa, the satellite of Rireinu, and Minaere, the next planet out, are already so heavily settled that they have been created their own provinces. There are also scientific outposts and military bases on or orbiting every other major body in the system. Rireinu Space Agency operate the first general service space station, appropriately named Koi, or 'Dawn', in Rireinu orbit. Koi Station is the port of call for galactic shipping visiting Rireinu, with customs, immigration, and transshipment facilities. No non-Rireinu registered vessels are permitted to land on Rireinu.
