Wood sylvan fashion is highly regional, but a few elements are relatively common. Capes or cloaks that are short in the front but hang down to around the mid-back are very widespread. These garments are called ‘forthena’ (mantles). They often incorporate long fringes and are predominantly colored in earth tones with thin slashes of brighter hues.

Meisylvan clothing tends to cover the legs but leave the arms free. Dresses and skirts are rare, although wood sylvan women often wear softer, billowing trousers. Most meisylvan clothing is made of fabrics that minimize sound, and animal skins are favored. Small carved wooden ornaments and buttons have become fashionable in recent times and are now fairly common. These are replacing the bone fastenings and decoration which are seen more on older garments.

There is little consensus between tribes on formal clothing other than nai forthena (chief mantles). These are essentially similar to normal forthena, but they reach down to the knees or ankles in the back and incorporate hoods. Nai forthena are made of heavier fabric and incorporate more designs of bright coloration, but they are still predominantly dyed in earth tones or left to their natural animal-skin hue.
