Werein I engage in Dialogue with the Conlanging Community on diverse Topics related to a continuing Project thusfar in its third Year, that Project being in its Specifics the Second Language Script, and also in General the Cosmos of Vana Gloria

Why a massive vanity thread now?

Because I have recently "finished" the 2L script - at least in that all 392 common component glyphs are designed and ready to be stuck together as words.  Also because I have been keeping this stuff largely to myself, barring occasional discussions on #isharia, and I feel its about time I presented it and used whatever questions and suggestions arose to help solidify Stuff.

What is Vana?

Vana Gloria, project name for a distressingly small universe based on platonism, gnosticism, Dantean topology, and aggressively rigid hierarchical categorisation of anything and everything.

What is 2L?

The Second Language, so named because I have minimal imagination.  And because it is the root language of Vana's Second Creation.

2L is a divine language, the first existing in Vana and the ancestor of all other Vanan tongues.  Most prominently it is the language of heavenly beings, and of all dealings with the angelic orders and celestial bureaucracy.  It is also by extention the language of prayer and magic, and due to its universality a cosmic lingua franca.  As such it has a dual status as both a sacred and immutable philosophical language and a living, practical one that must adapt to worldly concerns.

Grammar

I can't tell you much about 2L grammar yet, because I need to work on it.  But it will be highly analytic, very dependent on word order and avoid as much as reasonably possible semantically empty particles.

Phonology, or What the Hell is that Romanisation?

A basic look at the phonology and romanisation is here.  Much more work on realisation (as opposed to the underlying patterns) is to come.

For the lazy,
g = /ŋ/
q = /ɴ/
v + accent = /u/
r + accent = /a/
j + accent = /i/
plain v = /ʋ/ or /w/
plain r = /ɹ/
plain j = /j/ or /j/

And the rest (p, t, k, ʔ, f, s, x, h) are straightforward.  Accents indicate high/mid/low tone.  All words are monosyllabic.

The Glyphs

Information on the script is here.  The high detail versions of animals and plants (slightly out of date) are also available, along with what they represent and some information on how Vanans categorise life.  Those pages will be updated with the current designs and better, less Earth-based species descriptions... dreckly.

What Now?

Now I have a nasty mess of interconnected tasks: develop the grammar and vocabulary, come up with glyph compounds for words, and produce a simplified version of the script.  And work on a decent overview of the gods, whose natures are key to understanding just about everything about Vana.  And field whatever random questions about Vana I get, on any topic, because it will all help worldbuilding.
