id, ˈiːd, n. memory (of something). the living memory and oral history of someone. when they die, and their body decomposes, their id remains until no one remembers them as more than a name. anything can have an id, but since it requires specific shared memory, most things don't. something that is alive does not necessarily have an id, but most things do.
