) is capital of the chatterpolitan region of Isharian Belt (Naimo: Bièl t'Ishària
) and the most populous city in Anthològica, with a population of 2,121,960 as of 2020. The city is the economic capital of Anthològica and the anchor of the Isharian Belt
, an urban agglomeration of 5,641,510 people (as of 2020) surrounding the northern areas of Sahhaven Coast, by Sorcery Bay. Ishària is an international centre of chatting, business, arts, and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in Syndyktea.
People have travelled through and inhabited the Isharian area, located on a broad hilly plain interspersed with rivers, deep ravines, and forest, for millennia. The city was founded as an autonomous Zebbibian
colony by the Company of Adventurous Traders, and after the downfall of the Zebbibian Empire1
, in 2014, the city became the capital of the then sovereign County of Ishària. After merging with the Kingdom of Annieston, Isharia continued to be an important city in the Community of Anthologica
as an economic and administrative centre of that country, and as the capital of the Principality of Ishària, an upgrading of the former county of Ishària now within the Anthologican Crown.
Ishària has a rich cultural heritage and is today an important cultural centre and a major tourist destination, being prominent in music, motion picture and television production, furry culture, humanities, industry, and science. Its varied cultural institutions, which include numerous museums and galleries, festivals and public events, entertainment districts, national historic sites, and sports activities, attract millions of tourists each year. Ishària is known for its many skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the Kivvi Tower.
The diverse population of the Isharian Belt reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Anthològica. More than 60 percent of residents belong to a visible minority population group, and over 200 distinct ethnic origins are represented among its inhabitants. While the majority of Isharians speak Naimo as their common language, over 160 languages are spoken in the city and its metropolitan region.

The word "Ishària" was recorded with various spellings in Swahili, Catalan, French and English, including Ishihara
, and Xeria
, although the name is thought to be of Swahili origin, from hara
"district, quarter" or "to be terribly frightened, to defecate, to purge" + –ishi
"to live, to exist; to dwell", thus meaning "place to be terribly frightened" or "poo dwelling", in its primitive form *Haraishi
. The elements were reversed shortly after the place was founded as a colony, thus becoming Ishihara
, from which the historical alternative spellings derive.
The conurbation lies on the northern third of the Isharian Plain (Las Isharian
), north of river Vvire. To the east is Sorcery Bay, washing a rather diverse coast, with rocky beaches, sandy shores, and cliffs situated beside one another. To the west the metropolis is flanked by what locals call the Pauemunt
"piedmont", which in fact is not properly a piedmont but the edge of a plateau spanning to the west, to the real piedmont of the Contrarivvise Mountains. The Pauemunt is hilly, with forests, and grasslands, and home to many small cities and towns. North of Ishària and its conurbation lies Handiron Forest (Forest ta Handiron
), partially urbanized near the city thanks to the presence of farms and hamlets, but wild further north.
Ishària has a maritime Mediterranean climate (Köppen: Csa) characterised by mild days and nights, as its coastal location allows temperatures to be moderated by the sea. Autumn and spring are warm, winter is mild and rainy. Summer is warm to hot, and can be virtually rainless and very dry although it can get very muggy by the end of summer. The rainfall pattern is characterised by a short (3 months) dry season in summer, as well as less winter rainfall than in a typical Mediterranean climate. The prevailing wind during the afternoon and evening is from the east, onshore; at night it reverses to offshore.
Ishària averages 78 rainy days per year (≥ 1 mm), and annual average relative humidity is 72%, ranging from 69% in July to 75% in October. Rainfall totals are highest in late summer and autumn (September–November) and lowest in early and mid-summer (June–August), with a secondary winter minimum (February–March). Sunshine duration is 2,524 hours per year, from 138 (average 4.5 hours of sunshine a day) in December to 310 (average 10 hours of sunshine a day) in July.
The Isharian Belt. The cities
The Isharian Belt
(Naimo: Bièl t'Ishària
) is the conurbation extended around the city of Ishària, north of river Vvire. It's a mostly urbanized area with the city of Ishària
in the center, surrounded by the cities of Pedianvic
, to the north-east; Ingurtèon
, and Gýghel
, to the west; Tuissaite
, and Redditèon Saus
, to the south, along the coast; and Iautuv
, to the south-west. To the north-west lies the small town of Devian tar Arth
, not far inland, while the suburban cities of Basteberri
, and Imbroughi
lie to the south-west, beyond Iautuv.
This conurbation is governed by a single metropolitan authority, the Isharian Belt Authority
, in its Naimo acronym: Sintatzie tar Bièl t'Ishària
), which has power over the common affairs of the conurbation. The municipalities are still independent, although with different degrees of sovereignty: core cities (urs roels
, in Naimo) are the cities that form the core of the metropolitan area, and have shared sovereignty, making them de facto
autonomous municipalities; suburban cities (urs sutzurans
) and towns (paiens sutzurans
) are more sovereign but have less power and influence within the SBI than core cities.
In the descriptions below, names of districts are accompanied by a number between parenthesis. They are the official district number codes, and can be seen in the map at the bottom. These numbers are, as well, the first two digits in the Isharian postal code system, which uses the districts as main subdivisions for the postal areas.
City of Isharia
The City of Isharia
(Naimo: Ur t'Ishària
[uɾ tiˈçaɾɪə], thus named to differentiate it from Isharia, the metropolis), is the seat of the Isharian Belt and of the Principality of Isharia, and the cultural, economic, and financial centre of Anthològica. The city covers an area of about 405 km² between Handiron Forest to the north; the cities of Ingurtèon and Gýghel to the west, on the steep slopes of the Pauemunt; the Caroli Plain to the south, with the Minaran Riviera on the southern districts of the city; and Sahhaven Coast to the east, washed by Sorcery Bay. Isharia is the second most densely populated core city in the conurbation after Iautuv, but the most populous of the cities by far.

(1) is the city's oldtown, a political and cultural center, the site of the once Zebibian colony founded at the feet of Mount Agaït. Its name (pronounced [iɕiˈjaɾə], in Naimo) is an early variant of the city's name. Agaït
(2) is the district directly to the east, named after the mountain of the same name, which covers most of the district's area. It's hilly and forested, one of Isharia's lungs, and urbanized only in the northwest, bordering Xybre, and the east, along the coast. Xybre
(18), to the north of Agaït, is the city's dowtown and the conurbation's finance district, with one of the largest concentrations of international banks and coffee-houses in Theknownworld, and is home to many large national and international companies, like Kivvi
, Graus Mercants
, and Syantaydz
, among others. There we find most of the city's skycrapers, the tallest of all being Kivvi Tower (1,333 m). Chi'itavvi
(3), directly to the west of Isyiiara, is the arts district, with many theatres, cinemas, and cafés, as well as the National Opera at Isharia, and the Auditorium of Isharia. Between Chi'itavvi and Xybre lies Tsava
(5), one of Isharia's orthogonally-planned enlargement districts. There we find the city's central station: Ishària Terme, an airship, bus, and railroad hub transport in a massive building in the Art Deco style. Canafehe
(9) and Zahira
(10) are opulent residential areas, with groves, parks, and beaches, and the locals take pride that the area is one of the greenest of Isharia. Vernedeus
(22) is the health district, a major centre for hospitals, clinics, and the biotechnology and medical research industries. Port of Isharia, in the Araragnarja
(19) district, is the busiest cruise port in Theknownworld in both passenger traffic and cruise lines, an it's administered by the public company Graus t'Ishària
The northern districts represent a transition towards the natural areas beyond the conurbation. Tessorlet
(23) is a district of arcology farms, with food and dairy industries, and Shellacanth
(24) is a vast district made of continuous flat arcologies with mixed uses, and sprinkled with lakes, gardens, and groves here and there.

(Naimo [pəðiənˈvik]), to the northeast of Isharia, may be the quietest of all the core cities in the conurbation. Its large territory is forests, groves, orchards, and some swamps, and only a small portion is urbanized, the area closest to the conurbation. Its proximity to the port makes it a largely industrial city, with Isharia's free economic zone in Orazudar
(25). Cors Pedianvic
(27) is the city's oldtown, and Erepa
(26) is its enlargement district, with many immigrant boroughs and a colourful and intense popular art scene. Athalodwles
(28) is known for being the place of Hwcsli Syntagigna2
headquarters, an important bioengineering enterprise.
(Naimo [iŋguɾˈtɛɔn]) is a city to the west of Isharia. It's most notable for Isharia's International Airport and Spaceport, in Marwnates
(38). The towering arcology of Tyr Savvara, in Rhẃmel
(39), south of the spaceport, is one of the city's landmarks, and hosts over 60,000 people. Some large industries in the quasi-industrial district of Xagnatia
(40) are also notable; there we find the headquarters of, for example, Telissia Generics3
, Minute Lethargic4
, and Grup Cardrina5
(34) is the metropolis' red-light district par excellence, with many sex-oriented businesses erected along the district's Strip of Joy, its main artery: strip clubs, adult theaters, brothels, soap boutiques, massage parlours, cortisex cabins... Think of something; somewhere in Rwyz you'll find a porn version of it. Lomnagant
(35) is the security district, with the headquarters of the Isharian Belt Police Department (ISBI; Iselle ta Sehura tar Bièl t'Isharia
, in Naimo), and the Cryonic Prison (CrioGarzyol
), commonly known as "Popsicle Box", where cons are stored until they serve their sentences. The prison's building is a daily reminder that is better to be a good citizen than a criminal. Now you know what's more convenient for you, unless you don't fear the unavoidable side effects of the freezing process.

The city of Gýghel
(Naimo [ˈgyɣəɫ]) is the de facto
technoindustrial district of the metropolis, serving as Anthologica's center for high technology, innovation, venture capital, and social media. The city has the third-highest GDP per capita in the conurbation, after Tuissaite, and Tumblinn. Cors Gýghel
(41) is the city's oldtown and downtown, a fancy mix of old stone houses with steel-and-glass towers. East of the highway there's Lambtown, the Bloody Lamb's6
expatriate's borough. Assèdion
(42) and Pasohuddi
(43) are built on top of a vast ancient maze known as The Vaults. They now serve as warehouses and space for small local businesses, but large chunks of the maze are still unexplored.
A public square in Cors Gýghel, the city's old town.
(Naimo [tujˈsajtə]) is the most affluent city in the conurbation, with its highest GDP per capita. In ancient times the area was a large marshland between the river Minaran, to the north, and the Moccadi, to the south, timidly separated from the sea by a chain of shoals and reefs. It remained undeveloped except for Tuissaite Hill, where the city of Tuissaite was founded, which today is the district of Cors Tuissaite
(46), the city's old town. Eventually, the swamp was occupied by rice agricultors, and the area had some sparse population for over a millennium.
When the construction of Caroli Palace
began, the royal authority claimed all the swampy lands, moving the agricultors to other lands, to the north, in what is now the districts of Shellacanth and Vvasyacampa. The Moccadi was redirected to the south and canalized, and the freed area was transformed into the large gardens and lakes that now surround the palace. Nowadays, the borough of Còr Caroli
is the largest urbanized district in all Isharia, and the price of the square meter is outrageously high, the highest in Anthologica. Caroli Palace is, as well, an absurdly large palace, made of emerald, and purple stone, mostly with a flat, horizontal design. Something to be seen, for sure, and a prime tourist attraction.
(Naimo [tumˈbɫind]) lies to the south of Tuissaite and, like it, is also an affluent city, with the second largest municipal GDP in the conurbation. It is headquarters to Anthologican energy, mining, and telecommunications companies, including two of the country's major corporations: AntEner
, and Syndyktea's largest telemedia conglomerate, Grup Osveydz
. The home of many universities and institutes, it is the second-largest center of research and development in Anthologica, accounting for 21% of national scientific output.
Its oldtown, Cors Tumblinn
(50), occupies the northern half of its shoreline, and is remarkable for its blending of old traditional buildings and residential garden towers.
A street in Cors Tumblinn, not far from the beaches.
(Naimo [rədːiˈtɛɔn saws], "Redditèon South") is the southernmost municipality of the metropolis, and a core city. Its history is defined by three main factors: its proximity to Isharia, the presence of river Vvire, and the fact of being an obligued way between Isharia and the Vvire. Since old times the area has been filled with warehouses, inns, taverns, and abreuvoirs, to which industrialization added factories, and sea dockyards. Its name refers to an ancient anthroponym (Rendlites
), a landlord from older times whose castle is still in the oldtown, Cors Redditèon
(58) is an industrial district, with factories, warehouses, and workshops, famous for The Coils, huge structures that once had industrial uses and now are the home to some mad scientists. For some reason sellers of hallucinogen drugs are quite common there; proceed with caution.
(Naimo [jawˈtuv]) was a town in the way to Isharia until the growth of the metropolitan area absorbed it. It was then that the town became city, and that city sprawled with commerce as its main engine. Cors Iautuv
(61), the city's oldtown, is still a vibrant market, with bazaars and food markets. Whatever you need you'll probably find it in Meïnta
(62), the city's bazaar of the bizarre, rare, and not-precisely-legal: rare collectibles, hyperrealistic underground horror movies, military apparel, obsolete and not-so-obsolete nuclear technology, weapon replicas that look too
real, merchandise that has not been released yet, vintage furniture, all kinds of cheese, burlesque cabarets, the 1,001 ways to cook fish, astral trip spices, famous people's sex tapes, occult items and human skulls, hitmen for hire, all the video games that exist and some that still don't, lots of dentist businesses, unregulated knives and other special arms, bootleg copies of movies that are better than the originals, alternative souls, antiquities (legal? illegal?), etc.

The districts of Uykayez
(67) and Roombario
(68) are mainly industrial, with small factories and warehouses. In Uykayez, some areas west of the highway are full of abandoned warehouses, home to an alternative underground theater and cabaret scene. Crotzethas
(63) and Orsant
(65) are bourgeois districts, and Caroma
(64) is the most affluent district of the city, with the most part of embassies in Isharia. In the southeastern sector of the district we find one of the largest groves within the conurbation, the Vuitne t'Evressas "Evressas Wood", and next to it, to the southwest, the Palace of the Waters, the headquarters of Isharia's public water company, and a skyscraper surrounded by water gardens. Techèllobranch
(66) is a quiet residential district. To the west it transitions towards boroughs with inns, philosophy clubs, and fight clubs. To the south-east you'll find some of the most fine plastic surgeons in the metropolis; ask them anything, they can do it.
(Naimo [bəstəˈbɛri]. District code: 69) was founded near a chain of fortifications, of which the largest and main one was Baste Berri ("Fort Berri" in Naimo). Today the city is still devoted to military and defensive uses, with training fields and the headquarters building of Anthologica's Department of Defence: Ar Torw
(Naimo [imˈbɾɔwɣi]. District code: 70) is a traditional manufacturing city mostly devoted to the automotion and aeronautics industries. It has the second airport in importance of the conurbation, and it's home to some enterprises like Olié Motors
(the first employer in the city), AutoSèrix
, IBD Exprès7
, Schmonvection SpA8
, and Aggnel Airlines9
Devian tar Arth
Devian tar Arth
(Naimo [dəviˈan təɾˈaɾð]; "Devian of the Arth"). A rural town not far from the conurbation, with woods, farms, and orchards, and a quiet way of life.
