ard, prep. of (possession, property; association), by (creator), from (origin, association).

usage: In early Cel it was used for "from, of", to indicate the origin of an individual, as well as property, the creator of something, and, in general, association with something, someone or a place; but in later times its use was somewhat restricted to names of lineages, being placed between the personal name and the surname or lineage name, as in Anrai ard Mareio "Anrai of Mareio".

etymology: Older ared, from a combination of ar "the" and ed "of", implying "the one from".
