The thread for quick-o-matic translation challenges! Any text that is not too long or difficult to translate can go here. Famous or funny quotes and small pieces of witty dialogue are very welcome.

Examples of "texts that are not too long":

    • Poems (haiku and longer).
    • Famous or funny quotes.
    • Famous texts like J R R Tolkien's Ring Poem or the introductions to Homer's the Iliad and the Odyssey.
    • Song lyrics.
    • Bad translations of movies (bootleg Chinese DVD's subtitles and the like).

I do not know how genitive chains should interact with classifier postnoun. The 'highest animacy wins' criterion conflicts with the 'locative [rank, 6th out of 10] marks that a genitive item is in the locative' criterion.

What the hell, have some Dorf:

Thud bakurmim rodAllâs Arkimlur!

Thud1PL bak-urmimHORT-swim rod=Allâsin=sea.of Arkim-lurrace-hating
Let's swim in the Sea of Racism!

rod- is a general locative, which in this context would be understood as "in".  You could be a bit more specific with egrod- "inside, within".

As ever I can only take partial credit for the existence of Dorf.  Words sourced from Dwarf Fortress language files are urmim, allas, arkim and lur.

FIN-happen (sentence previous) (ACT.OF-harm-POSS REL-3 REL-1)

The tree (who is 3) burns because of speaker (who is 1). Previous sentence happens because of the possible act of harm by 3 to 1.
