'El Torco' sounds like the work name of a kinky gay porn actor.

Given that, ©TheExecutiveCommittee approves its use.

In Lilitika it would be "zo Torko." I think that's more dramatic, and more easily mistaken for Zorro, which is basically what you already are, so everyone wins.

In Polish it would be "Torko".

Definite articles are evil.

There is no god. There is a dog, however. Maybe you just have made a typo.

I love when people hit my triggering sore points and then blame me for having them when I react negatively. You don't just sit there and take the abuse when someone hits yours, why do I get held to a higher standard?

I don't have two hours to write up the damn thing with explanations, and I definitely don't have the spoons for it. I need the few I have left for work tonight.

I'll try and write it out later on.

Newest pet peeve: library staffers who can't tell the difference between Spanish and Portuguese.

What about telling apart Castilian Spanish and Catalan?

Catalan doesn't do final -o on its masculine nouns, has <ç>, and doesn't break VL *ɛ ɔ.

The Romance languages are pretty easy to tell apart, honestly. I think something like Danish vs. Norwegian would be harder than any of the Romance pairings, and if you wanted to tell, say, Arabic from Persian you'd need a crash course in an entirely new alphabet.

It's easy to tell Nynorsk from Danish/Bokmal since it has <ei> everywhere, but I don't know if there's a way to tell Danish and Bokmal apart.
