Here's a place to post and talk about the conflags of your concountries in your conworlds.

I recently made a bunch of flags, some of them I'm not too sure about, but here they are for your appraisal:

THE ZARCOS EMPIRE:
flag-of-zarcos_zps3960d28a.gif
This flag prominently features the Phoenix Insignia, the icon of the Phoenix King, a prominent figure in Zarcosian culture. Even though the Phoenix Clergy was purged by the Hatiianzo Dynasty, they kept the iconography as associated with the Zarcosian crown, to assert their legitimacy as the successors to the original Zariko Dynasty. The gray cross behind the Phoenix Insignia represents crossed blades. This features only in the imperial flag - the flag of the Kingdom of Zarcos has only the Insignia and the green background, the latter of which represents the importance of nature in Zarcosian culture.

THE KINGDOM OF PROPHA:
flag-of-the-prophan-kingdom_zps87fa8501.
The Imperial Eagle, the Laurel Crown, and the Monogram of Propha, all golden and backed by tyrian purple. This is the state that descended from the Prophan Empire. It's the state that crumbled in an attempt to re-Imperialize and gave way to...

THE PROPHAN REPUBLIC:

Gold and tyrian were avoided, due to the Imperial connotations, so white and blue, a colour combination found all across propha, was used. The Eagle and Laurel were discarded. The Monogram is retained, and the meander, an important symbol in Prophan culture, was added.

THE KINGDOM OF TICONDERA:
flag-of-the-kingdom-of-ticondera_zps8c87
The symbol here is a stylized version of the Ticonderan crown, a famous relic from Ticondera's Jamic antiquity.

THE DUCHY OF ANSHACRAS:
flag-of-anshacras_zps745a8b48.gif
The writing here is stylized Akkadian cuneiform. If I have it right, it means 'magic'. Above is the Ticonderan crown, identifying Anshacras as one of the states left in the wake of the Ticonderan Civil War, and vying for control of it.

THE DUCHY OF NALDUS:
flag-of-naldus_zpse2e33f80.gif
This flag simply features the Mu-Delta monogram of House Mandos, which rules Naldus. Above is the Ticonderan crown, identifying Naldus as one of the states left in the wake of the Ticonderan Civil War, and vying for control of it.

THE TICONDERAN UNION:
flag-of-the-ticonderan-union_zpsdb141810
This only happens far in the future. The three colours represent the 'three-headed culture' of the Ticondera of its time - sky blue for Sublimism, orange for the Salenzian Tradition and historical Ticondera, and black for Onyxianism.

THE KINGDOM OF IGION:
flag-of-igion_zps5fc93051.gif
The blue design is the monogram of Igion, spelling it out in the Prophan alphabet: ΙΓΙΟΝ. It is also a stylized representation of The Hand, the magistracy in which the royal capital, Fluwlidiwli - represented by the tyrian circle - is situated. The Tiburis flows in from the north, and the Anala, Albu, Kuru, and Pranata flow out from the south, in that order, from west to east.

I'm not entirely sure if the colours here work.

THE THEOCRACY OF SHORRAG:
flag-of-shorrag_zps4cbc4982.gif
This flag features the havalt, the eight-pointed star that represents the eight gods of Zhal's Family, the Eight Grand Arts associated with those gods, and the eight-element Shorragite cosmology.

Do you have an in-world justification for why they all exactly conform to Earth standards for flag dimensions?

Not all of them - especially the Shorragite one - would necessarily do so, but it's a convenient presentation format.

I don't buy that it's any more convenient than any other, but the bigger problem is it's misleading.

So long as you're aware of it, that's fine. It's perfectly alright to say "Some of the flags would have non-rectangular shapes yes but that takes a lot more effort, maybe I'll go back and change it some time."

Because Telèmor is European-inspired and designed, its flag and the flags of its regions will naturally be rectangular.

The national flag of the Telèmor Federation is below:

(I forget how the color scheme arose. I should come up with some symbolism.)

These are the flags of the eighteen regions (rejione).

Personally, I think you should stick with the animated GIF.

the kingdom of transemilia was founded in 1918 from various territories in the crumbling austro-hungarian empire. its flag, containing the crest of the king of transemilia (who had previously been the king of sparginia, one of the founding territories), was adopted shortly thereafter:

the king sided with the nazis during world war ii, which led to a massive revolt led by the communist party. by the end of the war, the CPT controlled most of the country (with help from the red army at the end), and the king was captured and shot. in january of 1946, the people's republic of transemilia was declared, a new constitution was passed, and the royal flag was abolished and replaced with a new flag:

(the text is transemilian for "workers of the world, unite", and the dates "1918 - 1946" refer to independence and declaration of the people's republic, respectively)

the flags for the transemilian military (the "revolutionary defense forces") are based on the national flag, but with different images charged on them:

the flag for the military as a whole is:

Definitely green on the outside. Probably red in the middle, as kodé said. It's more visually pleasing to have the darkest colour furthest from the centre, but putting the red and green next to each other is too low-contrast. Plus, this way it can be stylized as two stripes of yellow for use in various other motifs.

Since putting side by side those exact shades of red and green is a big no-no (rule of contrast), I'd choose any design with the contrary. So I choose the design on the upper left corner and the one below that one.
