The rest:

- sceptical about déyú—maybe it was meant to be desyú?
- "Aléfarha apassa kúekhtía surrepòsa da?" = "If I find darkness within doing [presumably everyday affairs]?" The phrase 'to find darkness' is a bit euphemistic and weak, as it sounds, so let's try making up something stronger... "Suryú múrthòsaia hé mokasòsaia venassa Sabta da?" = "If I burn and wither under the sun?"
- "liti" [during] -> "witi" [when] would be stronger; "les" only suggests things happen at som...

Maps (2014-10-02 16:23:43) :
The three attributes of colour that people usually consider when designing something for visual appeal are hue, saturation, and value/luminosity; value is essentially brightness (lighter colours vs. black), saturation is essentially colourfulness (strong colours vs. grey) and hue is the average wavelength of the colour as perceived by the eye (i.e. a rainbow.) Luminosity is this weird in-between thing between value and saturation where the range is extended upwards towards white, and the actual ...

It looks fine to me! ... But I think you may be trying to hurt people with colour-deficient vision. There's a reason why maps often have overdone colour schemes of questionable aesthetic value.

Phonologization Thread (2014-09-30 20:39:45) :
Too lame! Too lame!

acute: ˥
no accent: ˧
doubled vowels indicate gemination/longer length

<a e i o u> /a e i o u/
<j h b bb ñ p m g r s ʔ w n g t d> /j h v b ɲ p m g r s w n g t d/
<ʔ> /ʘ͡qʼ/ because ʔ does not belong in an orthography you lazy person

...and the three or four cases of of <nj> are typos that should be <ñ>, and I'll hear nothing else!

Eternal Summer (2014-09-30 16:11:36) :
Glosses provided mostly for the viewers at home:

- avanlíta (NEG-release-2.SG.LIQ) -> avanlísa (NEG-release-1.SG.LIQ); a clear case of -ita from Sarasí seeping back in
- Same on the next line; woisíta -> woisísa (to know)
- iféwoisòra (want-know-2.SG.AOR) -> iféwoisáse (want-know-1.SG.PRS)
- zhí'tshíta (again-believe-2.SG.LIQ) ... I feel like we talked about this, but this may be better as AOR, particularly since the line will establish a tense if you make the above...

I don't think croquettes can actually rebel. You may want to check for evidence of deliberately misleading behaviour. Whoever are claiming to be said croquettes should probably not be invited to dinner parties.

Is English in the early stages of losing pronoun case and verb concordance? (2014-09-30 15:20:30) :
"Me and him went to the store" is, honestly, pretty familiar to me. It's always been one of those things you're not supposed to do, but it slips out in casual speech from time to time anyway, especially among those who haven't been inculcated into the church of prescriptivist wisdom.

Okay... going back to the somewhat serious conversation, how does everyone actually feel about this? Sorry it's been like a month since I've been really involved in the community; my life's been a nightmare. (But we can talk about that some other time.)

...I think I may start moving these blatantly silly thread derailments into Hurq's thread.

EDIT: it turns out the 'revolutionary derailment' thread is a better dumping ground, since Hurq's thread has some coherent conversation.

Is English in the early stages of losing pronoun case and verb concordance? (2014-09-28 01:11:41) :
If history has taught us anything, it's that any feature linguistically endemic to the northern half of Great Britain is dying. (Actually, I have no idea... But, y'know. Media bleaching.) I'd wager that any evidence of such features occurring across the pond is either coincidental or vestigial.

Additionally: shame on you for assuming the linguistic playfulness popular in online conversation, especially headlines, constitutes conversational English. If it's not being used regularl...
