Bugs, Requests, and Changes (2014-08-13 16:49:19) :
That'll be fixed with The Notes Update. Once I get back to that, everything will be magical and different. Instead of having separated forums and read-only books, each wiki section will be a giant nested thread that the contributors highlight articles from. It'll be a lot like how [#173427|people] [#209411|share] [#214918|stuff] [#138432|now] on the forums, only with better organization and a "presentable" view that just shows an index and the key content posts, much like the current way chapter...

Bugs, Requests, and Changes (2014-08-13 01:00:09) :
CSS just isn't fancy enough to lay out a tooltip correctly. Anything at the far left gets really squashed. I preferred the way they were before, too, but it just isn't practical.

Telmona: Tǝɣra pretty scripty? Plus a longer text. (2014-08-12 19:02:02) :
Dumb suggestion: try reversing the stress on the letters in your script, so that they have thick lines on the vertical instead of the horizontal. You want to maximize the stroke weight on the most semantically important parts of the glyphs, which isn't being done very well currently.

Certainly, but you don't need those here! However, due to a fun and exciting bug, if you make two footnotes the same they merge.[note]Or do they?[/note] Well, sort of. They use the same symbol.[note]Or do they?[/note] Sometime soon I'll add the stupid O(n²) check that removes actual duplicate footnotes.

Numbers. We have numbers. You are writing a fancy-schmancy pseudo-academic article, not a label on a ketchup bottle.

It's tricky to do, but possible—if you can come up with a real reason for it.

alternative plus note [plus dzheloverekhta.]dzhelonveré. v. To define a word.[/plus]

For obnoxious technical reasons this is the inverse of the way glosses are done. Oi moi!

Bugs, Requests, and Changes (2014-08-11 16:55:58) :
As of now, those'll need to be switched to footnotes containing plus notes. Use plus notes for things like glosses of rare words; keep it simple. This way the text flow is less disrupted.

Bugs, Requests, and Changes (2014-08-11 14:38:07) :
I guess the most practical interpretation would be: "if you just need to make a quick remark, use a plus note; but if it's longer or the reader might want to click/select something in the remark, definitely use a footnote."[note]Or don't; I'm a sign, not a cop.[plus]Oh wait, I am a cop.[/plus][/note]

Okay. Fixed toc bugs. HTML coding characters will be stripped during anchor name generation.

...okay, new style option. Try this out. Fake alt status messages, like back in the day. I've used this style before, for glosses in a [http://memory.rhetori.ca/?Sentence Sandbox|random sentence generator]. It worked out pretty well there.
Why're the plus notes on the right-hand side of the posts?
Because... that's the alternative. Fixing their positions. Silly.

I think I may have another tweak that would disrupt the text of the page less; trying...

Test thread! (2014-08-11 05:17:17) :
Just try not to do that too hard in the future.

Recursive footnotes are (for stupid reasons) a pain to implement, so will be neglected.

Furthermore, if you use them, you're a bad person.
Hey, you should make it so that inline notes close to the right edge of the page go to the left instead. [#218432|I made this page,] and if you look at the note at the end of the fifth paragraph, it's all squished against the edge of the page.
I have a somewhat clunky solution implemented—though it causes the text to reflow and makes nested plus notes futile. Opinions? It's either this or notes on the right get squashed; there's no way of fixing it to look right in...

Cool your jets, sparky. They revert to inline mode on mobile now. Nice and plain. If you want, I'll implement a special "Aino Meilani mode" that displays literal parentheses instead so you can continue to be peacefully oblivious to the narcissistic indulgences of the internet age.

Okay... it's been another month, and, honestly, looking through things I'm pretty darn tempted to put up Matrix's [[Salenzis]] from Maikros, or perhaps one of the pages within it. Pretty pictures, lots of text, coherently written. Please, please, please, anyone else, don't be afraid to self-nominate.
