Ah, good catch. :) News posts use an alternative field to remember their date of initial creation. It's incredibly hackish, but gets the job done—unless, of course, it's unparseable. Then it reverts to good ol' December 31st, 1969. I'll fix that now.

There's a fix to that—I just haven't gotten around to it yet. If HTML sees any text at all where it shouldn't be in a table (e.g. <table><br><tr> ...) it moves it to the front.

I'll try to rotate them once every month or week once things get rolling, though at first I'll take whatever I can get. I'd like to declare that I've fixed the "jump-to-first-unread-post" mechanic for forum threads. Bugs quashed:
1. It would jump to an offset only showing you the first unread post at the bottom, requiring you to go to the next page to read the rest. Now, it shows you as many unread posts as possible—[i]without[/i] overshooting the first unread post.
2. Even if you'd never read the first post in a thread, it would jump to the first reply. Now it knows about the original post!
