I have finally written down some grammar on here. (2014-09-09 01:00:16) :
Or is it completely productive, like you could say something like "I ate the apples to lose weight" -- 'weight' 'apples' 'I' 'lose' 'ate'?
Yep.
It's very unnatlangy to change the word order in questions across the board: usually there's sensitivity to a question word or wh-word. Think of what you'd do in sentences like "What did the dog eat?" with object wh-words. You could have SOV order in yes/no questions with an extra question particle, and put th...

I have finally written down some grammar on here. (2014-09-08 15:08:14) :
It's kind of crazy how you jumped straight into syntax—were you ever going to give us morphology?
I was, but I wasn't sure how to do it so as to present new information - all the affixes and adpositions are listed in the dictionary.
the way your interrogative syntax is presented reminds me of how the punctuation mark "¿" was invented: to make it more obvious that a sentence was a question before you got to the end of it because the gram...

Conlang recordings thread (2014-09-08 14:53:24) :
As for Nahakhontl, I was using the original iambic stress system (every second syllable in the sentence is stressed). I have since decided that this is only a higher register, while your average person is going to simply have stress on the second syllable of a word. Sometimes it amounts to the same thing, sometimes it doesn't.
My Maja there is horrible, to be honest. I kept mixing up the length allophony. All orthographically monophthongal vowels except /i/ are supposed to lengthen befo...

Test thread! (2014-09-03 20:22:59) :
Yeah, I don't think he should be banned. His breaking of forum functionality does help Rhetorica find weird bugs and such. He is also a pretty good conlanger. That said, I don't think he should get away with this scot-free. Goatse is definitely crossing a line.

Sound Change Appliers (2014-08-26 20:28:10) :
Apparently it doesn't remember the exact values, because "fraadonny" (frädň before metathesis) becomes "fräḿy" when it should be "fräňd".

Sound Change Appliers (2014-08-26 19:45:44) :
So, the parent language has a lot of final syllabic nasals, and I want these to undergo metathesis with the preceding consonant(s).
