Bugs and missing features (2014-04-30 11:13:15) :
It does not appear to be currently possible to comment on people's blog posts. I could comment on my own posts if I wanted to but other people don't appear to have this power (and vice-versa); furthermore, there does not seem to be a setting for this anywhere.

Let's not forget places like Maggie's Nipples (Wyoming), Whorehouse Meadows (Oregon), Blue Balls (Arkansas), Imalone (Wisconsin), or Satans Kingdom (Vermont).

Of course the British are also very good at this; apart from certain obvious candidates *ehemllanfairpwllgwyngyllgwerndrobwllllantysiliogogogochehem* let us just note that, among others, places exist by the names of Lower Slaughter, Golden Balls, Lickey End, Happy Bottom, Crackpot (this is in Yorkshire; I suspect it is where Pthag...

It is also full of madness. The introduction says there is no voicing contrast but you list two series of plosives, and then there is

Did you perhaps write this while excessively tired?

help this climate shit is hard

I'm still gonna try to actually produce a proper climate map but I'm running into accuracy problems due to <the map is too small> and <I NEED MORE ELEVATION INFO> so I'm just gonna half-ass it (not that anybody would care?) and maybe I'm gonna have it up before the week is over.

For now let it be known that Umam lies in Köppen climate zone Cfa, which means hot summers, mild winters, and as far as I can tell a lot of rain the entire yea...

I think I'm not going to post here anymore until I have a language that isn't stupid.

Collabs that are too dynamic produce epileptic products.

Anyway, for reasons of <I cannot manipulate graphics> I can't do much but offer extraneous opinions on things like geography (extraneous opinion #1: find the biggest river in the area and plaster its banks with cities) but I will be happy to do things like spread maps for language families (haplogroup map, anyone???) because that's ~*only*~ splotching paint if that power be vested in me. Generally this sort of high-level stu...

Request for calendars (2014-02-21 04:47:53) :
Question: is the calendar system just a timeline thing for the entire world or is the idea for people to be able to reflect the time structure of individual cultures? I ask because reflecting the calendars of premodern cultures includes both things like regnal years and weekless calendars as well as really silly things à la the Mayan calendars or non-arithmetic ones (there was, for instance, a Salish tribe where the new year started with the first spawning of Chinook salmon; they would then coun...

As for emulating homophone support: perhaps add an undisplayed number to the name or something so that two homophones are internally beorht1 and beorht2 or something but they only show up as beorht?
