Military uniforms of your concountry/ies (2014-10-03 14:37:13) :
iiuc Safirians have more than two arms whereas hoomins and halfies have two, right?
are safirians, as the name suggest, dominant? cause if so, i'd expect the uniforms to be made with more arms in mind and then adapted to two-armed people, as opposed to these which look rather dibrachiocentric.

Any suggestions for getting Chrome and/or Safari to connect to the Net under WINE? :
So I can't get Windows Chrome or Safari to connect. I originally had actual reasons for doing this, but they're gone now and it's just curiosity driving me at this point to find out why these won't work. It's not WINE because Firefox.exe works perfectly fine, and I've got no trouble at all on the native browsers[note]It's highly amusing to tab out of Chromium to read GoogleUpdate saying it can't find the Internet.[/note]. Chrome's installer can't start its file download, and Safari just sits the...

[ul][li]-íta/-ita: I'm constantly messing these up. Argh.

[li]zhí'tshóra: We did discuss this one at length, but mostly how to form and syncopate it right, tense discussion if it did happen was like one line out of 20 or so.

[li]kekhía ola avá: Efokera, katei. To help a bit, many other languages simply don't have any dummy subjects in defectives like it rains/il pleut, jus...

Eternal Summer :
I ran across an old favorite of mine and just had to put it into Lilitika. It's not a perfectly one-to-one translation, that wouldn't be any fun, but I think it keeps the flow right while being largely adapted to Lilitai culture. Any errors are mine.

Yeah. With the black line there (also it doesn't need to be that thick, btw…) I can't tell they're different. I have a hell of a time with the no-line pic, but eventually I can squint enough to tell.
2. Can you distinguish the five different shades of blue (2) and green (3)?
Protanomalous; yes. You want the light green to be a little lighter, maybe, though.

Ok yeah I didn't even see that the peninsula was two different colors. I thought the 2blue/3green included the ocean.

Military uniforms of your concountry/ies :
Post here the military uniforms of your concountry/ies.
To wit, dress uniforms of the Safirian Empire, as would be worn by a male half-safir (as evidenced by only having two arms) flag officer
(Left to right: Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force)

The Historical Linguistics Thread (2014-10-02 16:56:00) :
My dictionary sources seem to transliterate OCS, but not Greek. Since OCS has a number of weirder characters that most people who know Russian Cyrillic won't have come across, this sounds like a good model.
However, we should also be cognizant, for a "Latin/Greek/Sanskrit Vocabulary for Philologists", of what languages people will actually know. It's easier to see cognates between Greek and Avestan than between Greek and modern Persian, for example, but...how many of us actually know an...
