RHETORICA COMMENT ON MY LANGUAGE PLZTHXBAI (2014-09-08 23:03:27) :
I love how painfully random the morphemes and glosses look; just from reading over the morphology page I feel like I'm staring at some horrible Linear B transcription. I hope this settles down with a nice bronze-age syllabary and that they have many kids together.

Admittedly, it's pretty rough. But yeah. If someone ion the far distant future wants help setting up a similar fancy globe thing, I kinda know a bit about how to do it. You need a map in an equilinear (i.e. boring) projection for it to work.

I have finally written down some grammar on here. (2014-09-08 22:49:31) :
Personally, I'd consider putting it up above the syntax, so people can actually tell what they're getting into. Y'know, like every grammar ever. But it's a great win, in my opinion!
Also, you may want to consider adding examples for the morphology. The Lilitika grammar used to be (and still somewhat is) a similarly terse list of affixes, and as I've massaged it into being more legible I've found lots of times where I've wondered "how do I say that?" or "when would I really use th...

Revolutionary Derailment Thread for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Anthologica (2014-09-08 16:38:53) :
Man’s obsession with trinitarian concepts has lasted for thousands of years. Indeed, when presented with two distinct choices - both of which are considered inadequate - we often look for a third alternative. In the late sixth century BC, the famous Buddhist sage, Prince Gautama, rejected a life of opulent complacency and experimented with self-disciple and denial. Consequently, after driving himself to the very brink of starvation the Prince realised that there was ‘a middle way’ beyond ...
Let's talk about Maldisian grammar. In my mind, the way we've been discussing things promotes the idea of a generally isolating language that only occasionally forms compounds. It probably won't have much in the way of an overwhelming morphology system, since the Maldisians seem to be largely merchants descended from agrarian folk, but I could see room for a more elaborate register used preferentially by nobles and religious folk that preserves this sort of stuff.
