RHETORICA COMMENT ON MY LANGUAGE PLZTHXBAI (2014-09-08 16:24:21) :
I haven't spent enough time putting kinks in, so the verbal morphology is too well-ironed. My plan with this is to make a billion daughterlangs with much cooler morphophonology. But I should mess around with this a little in the meantime to make it natlangier...

I was, but I wasn't sure how to do it so as to present new information - all the affixes and adpositions are listed in the dictionary.

Simple: take all of your dictionary entries, put them in an article and then elaborate. Morphosyntax is important!!![plus]also nobody wants to read through the dictionary for non-word stuff, why ar...

More seriously: your verbal morphology looks a bit too regular in that chart. Can all affixes coexist? Are there strange semantic indications with some of them? Is there any cool morphophonology or are you a fellow member of the scrubclub?

[quote Rhetorica]the way your interrogative syntax is presented reminds me of how the punctuation mark "¿" was invented: to make it more obvious that a sentence was a question before you got to the end of it because the gram...

Conlang recordings thread (2014-09-08 14:53:24) :
As for Nahakhontl, I was using the original iambic stress system (every second syllable in the sentence is stressed). I have since decided that this is only a higher register, while your average person is going to simply have stress on the second syllable of a word. Sometimes it amounts to the same thing, sometimes it doesn't.
My Maja there is horrible, to be honest. I kept mixing up the length allophony. All orthographically monophthongal vowels except /i/ are supposed to lengthen befo...

Hmm... Spanish has wh-movement and IIRC some subject-verb inversion, so it's a good deal easier to figure out a sentence is a question than in, say, Mandarin, where you basically get a sentence-final particle (no wh-movement, neither!). In general, this is probably a big problem in languages where C-level stuff (interrogatives, epistemic stuff, information focus) is on the right.

The weirdest part is how eerily normal most of Sub-Saharan Africa is compared to, say, the middle east or asian russia.

IIRC the url was because of the libraries/utility used to generate it – everything there, rendered globe and url both, was early alpha at most.
I still say it's worth recompiling to allow for correction of Astra Thessiae's color, when that time comes.
