Typological stuff on causatives? :
A thing that's been on my backburner for like 1½ years now¹ is a blog article on my conlang's causatives. For this, I already gathered some literature:

Translat-not-so-matic (2014-07-01 15:38:08) :
Pthag told us one of the stories of his people on IRC.  I thought it would make a good translation challenge.

let me tell you a story
i uploaded quirk to my kindle
and opened it
full of joy allah had put in my heart
but then i saw a shaitan had come
and turned the pagination away from how the prophet isa (pbuh)
meaning the pages were tiny
i wept that day
why o lord have you made these pages so small
what sin have i committed

These language textbooks don't dick you around. (2014-07-01 14:26:12) :
I'd like to add:

Ancient Greek: Try Alpha to Omega by Anne H. Groton. It dicks you around much less than Greek: an Intensive Course by Hansen and Quinn, which lives up to its name a little too much.

Finnish: I am using the old Teach Yourself Finnish (available for pretty cheap used on Amazon). It dicks you around a little bit on the grammar-to-vocabulary ratio (in the opposite direction than Greek: an Intensive Course did), but you w...

Radius: you see

there are many options but not sending in orders and not saying anything at all about this is p much the worst one

if by the deadline there had been something like "hey h13 I'm not sure whether or not to send in orders, what with yaali and everything" in my inbox I would have replied "yes send in orders please I'll wait with the update until they're here and we can figure out what to do about Germany afterwards" and there would have been no problem whatsoever...

Economists: the worst people ever? (2014-07-01 02:46:57) :
Quality control in biology has been a hot topic for the last couple of years, largely in the wake of several prominent fraud cases (e.g. human cloning), rising proficiency in Photoshop (e.g. doctored gel images), and [http://www.nature.com/news/scientific-method-statistical-errors-1.14700|shots fired regarding the use and abuse of the almighty p-value]. However, I don't think any of the estimates on flawed or improper research in biology can hope to hold a candle to the abomination reported here...

I heard (DANGER DANGER: ANECDOTE APPROACHING!!!) a while back that sort of thing with regards to unusual claims made in published papers (I want to say they focused mostly on biology, could be wrong tho) which other researchers failed to reproduce. I think the story was about scientific journals' peer review protocols being called into question. As I think about it more I'm all but certain I got the link in #isharia.

FWIW from an interested but disinterested onlooker, and I mean this solely as constructive criticism: the lack of any response from you to Yaali's post left me under the impression you yourself had not yet seen it and might be asleep at the switch, as a bombshell post like "I can't play anymore" can hardly help but merit discussion.

I am not particularly inclined to give you anything given your recent very successful efforts to piss me off but as you play Italy I shall be merciful and allow this.

Note though that if I were waiting for a replacement Germany I would say so (I mean it's kinda important innit) and that if you go around making unqualified assumptions it's on your head (see also the unqualified assumption that attempting to replace the current player of Turkey behind the backs if both them and the GM is ...
