Well to be fair, part of that concept is a) cut down on the overall workload per person for an entire consetting to become relatively detailed (in theory, at least) and b) depending on the setup, see how other's creations interact with yours or even how others expand on your creations.

while i welcome more dynamism, as nessie points out we're focusing on this one area in this inner sea. why not virilely create another city near Umam? it would be an exceedingly virile thing to do.

I've never gotten the point of parallel collabs, like... if you're just going to do your thing in your claim then why do it with others? i suspect it's about having people who will read your stuff or something. like read my nanowrimo and i'll read yours circles ?
at any rate,isn't it much...

On both of these points you're viewing what's been written a little too extreme and black-and-white, I think.  I suggest chain-shift as a possibility, and no one has claimed that all cases of word-initial vowels are down to consonant loss, just that that it could be a contribution to the skew.

Obsessed with Dwarf Fortress, Send Help (2014-03-30 02:07:49) :
As for /p/, it is the case that if any voiceless stop is going to be missing, it is /p/, so the lack of /p/ does not require a chain shift. This implies that the creator of Dorfish is not linguistically naive, as a linguistically-naive English-speaker would normally include /p/.

And the language could just have a lot of words starting with vowels (which is not unknown in natlangs), because if all these onset-less words were due to consonant loss, either there was an overabundance of a s...

Hey, can I join? I've laid a claim even:

Oice is the Crimea-shaped island, and Lellytue is the smaller iland next to it.

Rohslor is the name for the mainland and its mountains, and Ktella is the small island near Bahrain few live on.

Uqony is the name of the region itself.

Cut me a break, y'know eh?

We have no way of keeping track what's a defined and what's undefined, so I can't tell whether posts are free thoughts or SERIOUS CANON. It might go faster we get time/ weather scales and universal area names out of the way by doing them at the same time?
From reading that over, I would guess that <th> and <c> could also be /θ/ and /tʃ/, especially since the creators of Dorfish are most likely non-linguistically-aware English-speakers, and /θ/ and /tʃ/ are naturally sounds that a non-linguistically-aware English-speaker would put in a conlang.
First off, you can't link that url, it's an html page. You have to link the actual image file, [http://i.imgur.com/tXOMV6E.png|http://i.imgur.com/tXOMV6E.png].
Second, we're concentrating on one region at a time, and collaboratively filling that in, building on the work of others, not each taking our own part like in Akana or something.

I shall be violent and on mere will zu macht decree in a most manly fashion that there exist the following roots in Black Maldisi

Mal- barley. the ancestral name of the River Black delta, and of the noble family that has dominated it since forever, means "land of barley". Little to no barley is grown there anymore but no one seems to mind.
Um- brown.
