They're plates. You know, round and flat things made of bronze. Don't you have these in your country?

Gaaaaaaah I just calqued "you know, ..." :x

I think I'm not going to post here anymore until I have a language that isn't stupid.

Collabs that are too dynamic produce epileptic products.

Anyway, for reasons of <I cannot manipulate graphics> I can't do much but offer extraneous opinions on things like geography (extraneous opinion #1: find the biggest river in the area and plaster its banks with cities) but I will be happy to do things like spread maps for language families (haplogroup map, anyone???) because that's ~*only*~ splotching paint if that power be vested in me. Ooo, I like it. so the whole valley could be named valley of the sun as well as the city. I'm sure people can tell them apart by context.

Request for calendars (2014-02-21 11:52:58) :
The primary purpose of the calendar system is for keeping track of the world's timeline, but to do so in as con-culture-y a way as reasonably possible. That won't really be compatible with discontinuous calendars, although I'm sure you could find a way to simulate such a thing just by marking dates on a continuous calendar. Request for calendars (2014-02-21 04:47:53) :
Question: is the calendar system just a timeline thing for the entire world or is the idea for people to be able to reflect the time structure of individual cultures? I ask because reflecting the calendars of premodern cultures includes both things like regnal years and weekless calendars as well as really silly things à la the Mayan calendars or non-arithmetic ones (there was, for instance, a Salish tribe where the new year started with the first spawning of Chinook salmon; they would then coun...
