Vowel Harmony :
I have seen some examples and read explanations of vowel harmony , but I still can't get a good grasp on how it works and how one might use it in a conlang. Anyone good at explaining it or can point me to somewhere that can?

The other branch Proto-*fruit I like better. Turns out obscure fruits make great language names. (Proto-*, by the way, is from the Unix for "all-encompassing".)

Up until now I was thinking "why is this my fault; also your 'solution' is the laziest thing I've seen", then I realized what Annie is, viz: a wiki that simply doesn't look like one.

Which makes this behaviour make a whole lot more sense.

Music and language (2016-10-02 20:49:02) :
Bijection is wrong. "Converts to" only requires an injection, and as H13 noted, musical encodings often are lossy for languages. They could even be regarded as separate dialects in some cases, I think, although I really only know about Piraha.

I think I'm going to make a sticky that says all new languages must have English phonotactics and orthography—just to see if anyone ever gets as far as robust and detailed syntax.

How easy would it be to simply allow the tag to take an argument in quotes instead? Shouldn't be too hard, but it's also not at all important.

Honestly, if you provided me with the Cadre source, I'd even be willing to write it myself.
