Poetry and Prose of the Lilitai :
...tom: 40px; font-size: 80%"]This poem caused an unimaginable amount of controversy when it was first recited in 385 LILPO, and for decades many collections of Súai’l atshasa leyerúïs absolutely refused to include it. (You can probably guess why.) Íora disowned the poem in 387, claiming it was the result of a "brief period of experimentation," (talí tala 'l arotika) much to the dismay of the estimated 10-15% of the population who secretly participated in total power exchange r...

Flags (2014-11-07 08:27:02) :
Do you have an in-world justification for why they all exactly conform to Earth standards for flag dimensions?

Tutorial Block (or something of that nature) :
For a few years, people have asked about the possibility of me creating some sort of banknote tutorial. And, try as I might, it hasn't surfaced. There are several reasons why, the most prominent being:

·I really don't know where to go with such a tutorial. I design in a bit of a nonlinear way, bouncing here and there and not following too much of a set procedure. I do a lot of preliminary work in my mind as well, so such a tutorial may neglect various steps that I normally just skip...

The meme that realism is good. Aping Tolkien does not mean that you know exactly what Tolkien did or why he did it, so you just do a Standard Fantasy Europe. It's a bit like religion, nobody actually follows scripture, they just tell themselves they do.

BSD? BSD. :
There is nothing quite as antithetical to the nomenclatorial Confucian as the proliferation of several identical acronyms, especially when they are used in similar enough contexts as to be confused. That's why I'm here today to talk to you about BSDs. [snip]

Predictably I of course mean neither any Berkeley Software Distribution or Bipolar Spectrum Disorder, much less the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer Conjecture. Instead I mean, and am proud to have contributed another meaning to a not ...

i guess what i was getting at is that people who don't know what they are doing often feel they can simply fall back on aping Tolkien, and since he did have potatoes in middle-earth then why do we have a hangup that High Fantasy cuisine must confine itself to eurasian flora

Fair. I do all my real typing on a full keyboard, so autocorrect is totally alien to me.

What the fuck kind of autocorrect is that and why do you even have it turned on? I live in a world without autocorrect. and T9 phones. It's like an alternate universe kind of, which maybe means that I'm the evil twin?

And in the other universe, the me is cisgender, and kind of tomboyish and has bangs, and is a vegetarian, and has a bunch of tattoos and snakebite piercings and is totally comfortable with her sexuality.

Anaşa Salanja 2 :
... no marker at all given its complete lack of agency in the action affecting it and no other reason to distinguish it as with the first or second persons. Given that the absolutive plays a role in transitive clauses as well, it could well be asked why the verb is not marked with both sets of endings, and this is indeed seen at times in some extremely early works; by the period of Anaşali ascendance, however, this had vanished completely from the language, barring importations from Ker Sala...

Sound Change Appliers (2014-10-24 01:09:09) :
Hey, I'm having some weird outputs from HTS, and I was hoping you could explain why it's happening, so I can figure out how to avoid these sorts of problems. Here's the rules and variables in question:

Æ  = æː  æ  æ̀ː  æ̀  æːˈ  æˈ
EA  = æːa æa  æ̀ːa æ̀ a æːˈa æˈa

EA > Æ

If it's relevant, there are also variables E and A, which follow the same schema as EA and Æ, except they have "e" and "a" in place of "æ(a)".

...f your residence.

My turn:

Why? In the name of feathers and fedoras would you not know the schedule of the firm you are staffing? If someone who is motivated to work for you suggests their willingness is contingent on schedules, why not make sure you know what the fuck you're talking about? I have serious feelings about subcontractors. Serious.

More Heterodoxy: Setting Fiction :
...indeed we find several tried-and-true storylines that allow for putting as much setting exploration as possible in the work. And yet there are also setting tropes. By our theory, of course, this makes little sense -- if it is the primary element, why are there such easy-to-reuse parts? And more importantly, why is it that everyone seems to be using them?

I said before that I wouldn't bring genre confusion into this, but there is one aspect of it we will have to touch upon ...
