Ask a brownie... :
...kip, and in the morning they had a good breakfast. Wasn’t till they packed up that things got touchy again. See, the older brother wanted to dawdle until the farmer had gotten out to his fields. His counterpart was a mite troubled, not quite sure why.

But once the farmer was out of sight, the older brother unloaded half the bundles from the cart and piled them on the table inside. Then they set off on the pokey excuse for a road. Soon enough the little farm was out of view and th...

Ask a kurgan... :
...food, and the flock will be restless at Ioten’s crook.” For his cousin, Ioten Guranson, had been left with their flock, and Ioten was no master at his trade.

“Ioten will keep the flock well enough,” Daras told his son. “And you will know why we climb when we have climbed.” So he led, and his son followed behind.

Ku’anath was an unforgiving lord, and the summit road did little to smooth his cruel slopes. The climb was hard and little water could be found. But the kurgans’...

Two Men on the Mountain (in field description):
... recurring. If he asks, the loremasters will tell him of the two men and the mountain. It is a story that can be found across the Imperium, in many guises and serving many purposes. Many suggest one reason or another why it recurs in so many places, and theories abound why so many seem to repurpose it. Most believe the various editions spring from one original legend, and all argue about which version is most accurate and what elements come from the source, and other such details t...

happiness thread (2014-10-16 09:47:43) :
bloodbath: congratulations on the grant progress; grands are one of several reasons I'm afraid to go back to academia, I'm not sure my fragile little heart could take rejection. That's why I act tough

Jipí: skinny jeans, yo.

Nessari: that all kind of sucks, definitely makes clothes acquisition difficult. Are you colourblind?

masako: I'm still tired and think I will have a second cup, even though that is twice as much as I normally permit myself to have.

Kala grammar (2014-10-16 07:27:14) :
can't help you with the indecision, this is something you must overcome yourself in order to become a fuller, more mighty kind of yourself. But as for linguistic jargon, why do you think there used to be all those posts amounting to "hey guise, what would you call this" or "what is the name of that feature" in the old conlangosphere?
<and come to think of it where did they go?>

happiness thread (2014-10-16 02:40:25) :
... because I'm well below-average height for a male (5'5"/1.65 m) combined with being rather thin. In most clothing stores, finding things that I would want to wear that also happen to be in my size borders between difficult and impossible, largely why I gamble on using Amazon for most of my pants and shorts purchases.

With that out of the way, I think Morrígan looks great. Only thing I'm not really a fan of are the glasses, actually (I rather dislike thick-framed glasses), but tha...

Photomancy :
...understanding of the brain, it must be the entire brain that is affected, so it is in effect a total replacement of the current brain by an earlier state, which can lead to much confusion, as the patient who wanted to forget something has no idea why they're there - and if the thing they wanted to forget is long enough ago, this confusion can be quite extreme. This, of course, has much more nefarious uses than alleviating painful memories. However, in all cases, there is a certain time li...

No wonder you and I were considered first off.

[quote Nessari, Illúbequía, Seattle, Cascadia]Any feedback from it on why it does that? Could be gravitational reasons certain orbits aren't tenable.

Nope. You just try typing in, say, 0.7 AU for Venus's orbit, and it will decide 0.65 was a much better choice and give you that. It often tries to screw with the eccentricity, too.

Now I'm really curious as to why some of the cities on that map were picked as the "capitals". Many, like Olympia, Des Moines, and Santa Fe, make sense; they're already capitals. But Elyria? Seriously?

Any suggestions for getting Chrome and/or Safari to connect to the Net under WINE? :
So I can't get Windows Chrome or Safari to connect. I originally had actual reasons for doing this, but they're gone now and it's just curiosity driving me at this point to find out why these won't work. It's not WINE because Firefox.exe works perfectly fine, and I've got no trouble at all on the native browsers[note]It's highly amusing to tab out of Chromium to read GoogleUpdate saying it can't find the Internet.[/note]. Chrome's installer can't start its file download, and Safari just sits...
