It's inevitable that inset stuff like that (they're called floats in CSS) causes problems with box layouts. You wouldn't think they would, but they do! This is why Wikipedia doesn't float its tables of contents.
I'll rework the layout on news posts to have a bigger header, but there will probably always be at least one way to make ugly box-layout-related messes.

You know what would be cool ? that whenever the browser renders the page, it showed the last, I don't know, 17 posts or something. I mean the whole numbered pages thing is an atavism from the paper days, right?

Alternatively, you could dynamically load posts as you scroll up or down with some jQuery magic, like Twitter does. However, at least on my 6 years-old computer, this is also what makes Twitter slow as a snail.
Also, Torco, just to tease you: Your post count would probably increase if you entered some gibberish into your user profile. Doesn't have to be any specific information, just asldfjalsdkjflökasjflkasjdflökasjflaskjföalsjf.

I now am sometimes seeing posts well before any unread posts when trying to read unread posts in a thread. I know that this was somewhat intentional, but for me at least it doesn't seem to be having the effect that would be desired.
Furthermore, threads should show what the current page is when you are in them. I noticed that when I was in a thread I had no way of telling which page I was on at that moment. This is something that should be changed, e.g. by delinking and bolding the number of the current page. (Okay, now I can see it, but it seemed like it was not doing it before.)

You're seeing freshly-edited posts. I saw 3 new posts in one of the conlang fluency threads today, and was a little shocked. Turned out you'd edited 3 posts.

Maybe we should have separate messages for edited posts separate from new posts, to avoid such confusion, both at the forum top level and at the subforum level?
(And yes, whenever I make any changes to my conlang, I do go back and modify all my previous posts in my conlang so as to be consistent with the changes.)

I should note that page does not display properly on smaller screens, such as on my Kindle; the formatting breaks quite horrendously on here, actually.
