Three cases: Ergative, used for subjects of transitive verbs in ergative contexts as well as in place of the instrumental and genitive cases in other languages (from an earlier instrumental), oblique, used for objects of transitive verbs in accusative contexts and also with most adpositions, and finally, absolutive, used for everything. If the subject of a transitive verb is inanimate, the alignment is ergative; otherwise it's accusative.
