/eɪ̯ eʏ̯ aᵻ̯ aʊ̯/ <ei eü ay au>

Dorsal fricatives are in free variation between velar and uvular. Non-initial /f/ is rare and mostly occurs in loanwords and due to the devoicing of /v/. Initial /p/ never occurs in native words. There is vowel harmony between front vowels /i y e ø eɪ̯ eʏ̯/ and back vowels /ɨ u a o aᵻ̯ aʊ̯/. Nasals assimilate in place to following obstruents or nasals. Coda obstruents agree in voice with following consonants and devoice word-finally. /j/ never occurs in coda.

Syllable structure is (C)(C)V(C)(C). Initial consonant clusters consist of an obstruent (except /t͡ʃ d͡ʒ ʃ v/) followed by /l r v/ (except for labial obstruents + /v/). Final consonant clusters consist of a resonant followed by an obstruent.
