The Eleutean (or Eleuthean) language was created by the demon Eleuthesceptas for the peoples of the Ybrearmèlleon. Little is known about that demon, but the consensus among sages puts him as the ascended avatar of Elvaregtel I, rhuverna of the Eleuthean Empire in the times of the Dhaula Varlauve.

The name of the language is Eleutean (native, eleutarn), with Eleuthean being an archaizing version. The former is preferred over the latter to avoid confusion with anything related to Eleuthèa.
