Voting makes terrible prayer. there's nothing wrong with it if you want to do it, but i think there's certainly more satisfying things to do. Perhaps insincere voting feels empty and unsatisfying, kind of like insincere prayer? are you sure your vote really reflects your feelings? cause like, if not it's kind of lying to the State.

okay, my saying voting is basically prayer is a bit hyperbolic, but not as much as you might think: we do it to feel better about ourselves, plus the whole civic religion thing, plus let's not bullshit, you know it's more about actualizing one's own values and the traditions of one's community than about actually effecting any change in anything. Again, there's nothing wrong with it, but insincere voting is kind of weird and nonsensical.
