I have finally written down some grammar on here. (2014-09-08 13:56:25) :
Hmm... Spanish has wh-movement and IIRC some subject-verb inversion, so it's a good deal easier to figure out a sentence is a question than in, say, Mandarin, where you basically get a sentence-final particle (no wh-movement, neither!). In general, this is probably a big problem in languages where C-level stuff (interrogatives, epistemic stuff, information focus) is on the right.

The weirdest part is how eerily normal most of Sub-Saharan Africa is compared to, say, the middle east or asian russia.

I mean, you guys are cool, and all, and I might move there someday, but I don't really want to spend my whole life hanging out with stoners, Apple employees, Microsoft employees, and the populace that elected both Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger and thought this was a good idea. It's like a fun house, only with politics. The America of America.)
