Dhok, I'd love to see any spreadsheets you are working on, that sounds pretty cool.

I will be reference the inflection classes where they are noted in texts. For LIV, that means all the verbs in LIV.

The Historical Linguistics Thread (2014-09-26 13:31:37) :
So, right now I'll probably be working from LIV, Lubotsky's Indo-Aryan lexicon, that Mallory and Adams book that I have, some Beekes, and possibly also Masatovic's Celtic etymological dictionary (which I'm pretty sure I also have).

Unfortunately, this does mean developing a lexicographic ontology, but I'm confident that I have enough experience for this. Basically, I'll start by putting thins in spreadsheets with the semantic data schema in mind, and then transform it to RDF.

EVERYTHING.

I'm gonna do the thing I did with the earlier version of the composite lexicon, only better.

Awesome, thanks. I was not familiar with that site.

I'm working on finally building the unified PIE lexicon in RDF with citations back to the original texts.

Kind of on-topic:
Any one have (or have access to) a PDF of Lexikon der indogermanischen Verben (H Rix, M  Kümmel)?

I sort of need it.

Metathesis - Beta Update :

README is here https://github.com/sfmorrigan/toolbox-sca

You can now use indices on variables as well as vanilla backrefs. For example
C = p t k
G = b d g
N = m n

CN > $2$G1
lets you do both metathesis of plosives and nasals, but also change [tt]C > G[/tt] in a single rule. You  actually can't use parentheses here, but it might be a goo...

Yeah, that looks  right.

Also note, however,  that some aspects of error reporting with respect to the new functionality might not be very good.

Metathesis - Beta :

I changed the way that rules are parsed and applied, and got all of the unit tests working. Right now, you should be able to do metathesis like
CN > $2$1
in order to reverse the order of two segments. You can also do longer-distance things like
CVN > $3V$1
which will swap [tt]C[/tt] and [tt]N[/tt] but leave [tt]V[/tt]; the statement [tt]CVN > $3$2$1[/tt] is equivalent in this...

Almost certainly not. The main reason to doubt the Solutrian hypothesis at this point is that the DNA of the Clovis child that was found shows strong affinities to Siberian and other American populations and none at all to populations of Old Europe.
