in other news, i bought maracuyá juice a month or so ago, and by now it has become all bubbly and full of alcohol. delicious delicious alcohol.

okay, i didn't actually drink the whole thing, i'm not that daring, but it still was nice to see the wonders of alcohol production in my own bedroom, and the half a glass or so i did drink was lovely.

Waiting to see if you develop food poisoning or something before having the rest?

I successfully migrated my 32-bit Arch Linux to 64-bit on my PC. And successfully configured my notebook with Arch to use Wi-fi.

Nice. I might need to replace the Linux Mint install on my 2008 netbook, it just doesn't feel quite right, and now that I'm using it again, I'd like something that suits me better.

Also, I ordered a Canon EOS M on a recommendation from a friend and I'm very excited about it. I also got a sewing machine from my mother (which I need to learn to use) and some clamping worklights I can use for softbox lamps. Soon, fashion blog.

One thing that ceased to work is running graphical programs as another user.

I'm drifting towards pulling my LMDE install back up and bashing my head against that for a while to get the nvidia drivers working; the standard flavor Mint I'm on is showing massive signs of problems due to its /home being on a 30 gig partition (I have a weakness for WINE and games, so huge downloads happen fairly frequently). Not looking forward to that as it's the sort of terminal work I'm least familiar with, and the nouveau drivers are an enormous pain in the ass to switch out.

I like to think it is a statement: "I don't want to configure this computer, and it will never be in harm's way. Please make my USB devices work magically without causing any headaches."

Usually it works out just fine. Usually.

For what it's worth I work with a number of different distros; Annie runs on OpenSUSE, girlfriend swears by Arch, SciNet is all CentOS (ironic as it sounds for a major supercomputer to use a genericized distro, they don't exactly need off-site support), brother's systems are a mixture of Slackware, Debian, FreeBSD, and maybe one or two Solaris boxes... and I used to consider NetBSD a hobby. So... I think I've earned the right to have a bland Ubuntu install at work.

you are a clown
if the half-glass you drank didn't make you sick, the whole batch was probably good

wine is not a complicated thing unless you are french and make it so on purpose

ne: unless it tasted awful, i guess

also did you know, there is a tradiitional english wine made from marrows?

Getting intoxicated by house means, I see.

(I once drinked a fruit juice that I had kept open for some long time and forgotten about it. It tasted a bit alcoholic, but little more than that.)

sure the whole batch was probably good. still, there's something about drinking a liter of way-past-expiration fruit juice that made me kinda queasy. I wish i was as virile as manly pthug who consumes spoiled foodstuffs regularly cause expiration dates are too mainstream for him. perhaps this was the first step in a personal journey of homemade
fermentation?

man, marrow wine sounds awful. does it have enough sugar in the first place ?
