Last week I had the conversation with my security officer, and she was pretty much uunnpfhaazseedd, which was cool. Some time next week I'll probaby go down and file the petition for a legal name change with the county court.

I still need to find an ear-nose-throat doctor so I can get cleared to work with a speech clinician and not periodically experience horrific voice dysphoria.

Does that involve voice and communication training only, or it includes cirurgy?

The former. The only time I'm letter doctors do anything in my body is if the endocrinologist recommends an orchiectomy.

I really hope the training is a little easier for me, as a linguist with relatively good control over phonation.

YAAAAY!!!

I hear the anguish about your voice. I can get mine quite feminine-sounding, but only consistently when I'm alone. Just can't make it happen except in blips with people around, even my close friends. All I can say is what you no doubt already know, so I'll skip the lecture I'm ill-prepared to give anyways.

Voice-altering surgery has incredibly mixed results. Usually not worth the risks. I'm not really of the same opinion on surgeries, but to each her own on that.

I just don't know how to train myself to be more consistent, or too accept what my voice sounds like it, since everybody always hates their own anyway.

I think I just have some kind of phobia of invasive medical procedures. I should get over that in case i need to get my fat moved around. Hopefully that isn't necessary, but I've been slowly losing weight since before starting HRT and it hasn't stopped. But then again, my testosterone has been really high - it was still 300ng/dl a couple of months ago.

Yeah consistency is my problem too; I've never had it.

Eek, that's high still. My last measurement prior to this one was 450ng/dl; the latest was 72.

I tried µg/mL, but then you get like .00045 or so. ng/mL gives you 4.5, though, and mL is a more customary division of a liter than dL, I think? OTOH, idk medicine.

It's a bit easier to handle hundreds than decimals mentally. Beyond that supposition I have nothing to offer, except that estrogens are measured in pg/ml.

Wow, 72 is good. That's like dead-on normal. I think I started around 700, and was at 500 two appointments  and maybe 4-5 months ago. Down to 300 last time, about 2 months ago, and they changed from 2 to 3mg estradiol daily. I don't have another appointment until 15 October, so hopefully by then, things will have settled down.

Yeah I'm happy now, but I'm not celebrating yet. My levels have a tendency to fluctuate wildly on a not-quite-consistent-but-roughly 2wks-2mo cycle, I'm currently in a low part. Hopefully it doesn't spike again, but I'm not assuming it won't.

Actually testosterone is generally measured in ng/dL and estradiol in pg/mL, tho there's a new tendency in labs to regularize it all and just express it in subunits of mol/L. /dL is not uncommon in medicine, for instance you use it for blood sugar and this customarily... it results in prettier numbers, I guess.

So, sort of good news, in that a friend of mine who was in an abusive relationship is still having to live in an apartment with her ex ( who continues to be weird and possessive and kind of needy, despite the numerous times that he's cheated on her) has probably found a place to live and we can move her this week.

I just feel generally powerless. I love herrrrrrr, but probably(?) not romantically, since she's straight and only 22, but maybe I feel like she's my little sister or something. Feels, yo.

In more completely positive news, I should be able to file my namechange paperwork this week. Also, a woman I met once at a party three years ago is probably into me, but she lives in Texas right now.

I like mine too. I also like that we can choose the rank system.

Good news tho, I filed my name change, and I helped my friend pack, and she found an apartment and we are moving her this weekend. So relieved about everything.

Double yays!

Speaking of names, I'm planning on whacking the domino chain which will lead to being able to get my name change done within the next month, depending on how frantic my life gets in that time (options: very and Dunkirk). It's a scary decision because it involves dumping my health insurance without having a replacement plan at the ready (however I do have one or two potential options lined up), but I need to get Washington residency for a variety of reasons.
