Thanks. Never really expected to be wearing yellow. I got the skirt and cardigan last weekend; the shirt probably cost me something like $40 because sometime I have to go to LOFT and I can't resist.

I've never dyed my hair, but I've though occasionally about making it a little darker. I need to get my eyebrows cleaned up some time too. Trying to get clothes is, frankly, agonizing, mostly because I probably have very expensive tastes. I like fairly minimalistic things, and those you seem to have to pay a lot for. I thrift somewhat often (hadn't for a month or so until last weekend) in order to find things I actually like, but that takes some work.

Mostly though I'm lucky in being barely above average height for a woman, and  only slightly broad in the chest. Slightly large feet, but about the expected size for my height, based on my mother and sister. If shoes weren't routinely too narrow for half of everyone, I'd be a perfect 10 in most brands.

Also, I've been thinking about starting a fashion blog, if only to feed my newfound vanity, but I'd like to get more lighting gear first.

One of these days, if I have the money, I need to try and find clothing that both fits and looks good. Being as large as I am, this is probably next to impossible.

Guys have it very easy. I'm a size 22/24; the equivalent (so far as how easy it is to find, not what it translates to sizewise) in male clothing is roughly a 65 inch waist (in men's clothing, I currently wear a 40).

LOFT?

I'm going to try getting my eyebrows threaded tomorrow, actually. Plucking just takes too long. I need to hit up thrift stores, as I said I'm hard up for clothes and my job is only having me work 16 hours this week

LUCKYYYYYYYYY! I'm 5'11.75". Despite this, I still want some (small, nonspiked) heeled boots. I'm still hauling myself around in some blue men's sneakers; my tomboy side held me together while attempting to be male, so I have a whole lot of not much in the way of clothes/shoes that are remotely wearable now.

Clothes shopping for me has always been very difficult, largely because I'm well below-average height for a male (5'5"/1.65 m) combined with being rather thin. In most clothing stores, finding things that I would want to wear that also happen to be in my size borders between difficult and impossible, largely why I gamble on using Amazon for most of my pants and shorts purchases.

With that out of the way, I think Morrígan looks great. Only thing I'm not really a fan of are the glasses, actually (I rather dislike thick-framed glasses), but that's minor. I'd say, though, that the lighting you have would work well in a fashion blog and that you should definitely go for it.

On a happier note, I did get word that I've made it through the first round of the review process for this grant I'm applying for. Only one round remains, and I think my chances are definitely nonzero that I'll get selected, but it'll be about two months, maybe more, until I find out if I get to run away and get paid to do so. Other issue is that the earliest I could actually run away were I to get the money is maybe mid-March, but that'd be very highly dependent on getting everything for the residence permit process done quickly. And, considering my misadventures with the German and French government bureaucracy, I don't think that's likely to happen.

<rant> Alas, buying clothes. Pants are especially bad if you're thin. Shoes are a pain in the butt for me, too, because I have rather narrow feet for a guy. </rant>

On a more happy note, I think I did OK on my midterm today that I basically only studied for yesterday.

What works for me is being as boring in fashion as I can: I give you Torco's fashion advice for men

a) find a shop that's cheap and sells shit your size
b) dress shirts, buy in bulk
c) gray or black pants, lots
d) jackets: never enough jackets: you'll never use 9/10ths of them but regardless they are awesome
e) black pants go with any shirt: this is scientifically proven fact which comes down from the lips of the LORD.

boom.
yeah, I guess guys do have it easier? thank you patriarchy.

And I just got reminded that what looks color-coordinated to me probably isn't to anyone else.

Off just enough from mainline to be problematic, not far enough off to not notice this.

bloodbath: congratulations on the grant progress; grands are one of several reasons I'm afraid to go back to academia, I'm not sure my fragile little heart could take rejection. That's why I act tough

Jipí: skinny jeans, yo.

Nessari: that all kind of sucks, definitely makes clothes acquisition difficult. Are you colourblind?

masako: I'm still tired and think I will have a second cup, even though that is twice as much as I normally permit myself to have.

I'm actually drinking coffee now. Not for stimulant properties, caffeine's never done a whole lot for me1, just taste. That and a few other things starkly indicate I've gone completely native.

He, he, heh... That's how I name a kind of jacket made of synthetic black leather that looks a lil' shiny under a proper light.

I was kind of imagining that. Kind of like my friend who used to have (until they died) what she called East-German hooker boots. Probably a great combo.
