Yeah. give it eighteen years and we'll all be wondering how on earth did we survive with less than six teras of QTRAM, the next big thing after ram that uses quantum tunneling or whatever fancy thing. As for myself, i'm on a happy laptop with six gigs which chrome fills happily. If i open the same pages on my old laptop which has 2,5 gigs chrome fills those 2,5 gigs happily, for about the same performance and functionality. if i use the really old desktop with half a gig worth of ram in which i have running a pretty clean xfc-powered ubuntu installation, chrome eats that half a gig happily. I'm quite sure that if and when i buy a gamig desktop with 12 gigs or ram or whatever, chrome will eat *those* 12 gigs of ram quite happily. I'll die an old man with an absurdly light computer that has fourty-three terabytes of memory, and whatever browser i use will eat those fourty-three gigs quite merrily.

It is the way of the world per secula seculorum

i demand that a propitious sacrifice be offered to the powers that be. As for myself, i have offered a goat.

Chromium took 4 fucking months to update from 32 to 36 on Ubuntu … Idk if they updated the Pepperflash plugin in the meantime, though.

Am i the only one who gets a vibe like the site wants them to read all the posts? i don't much give a fuck, dear homepage, that there are two thousand something posts i haven't read, and yet you mention it in two distinct places. Are you trying to tell me something, board ?

It looks like the search function isn't functioning properly for me in any way, instead spitting out everything possible.

torco: if you don't want to read them, that's what the mark read buttons are for!

Yes and yes. READ ALL THE POSTS. BE INVOLVED. GARGH. (But seriously, if you have any constructive ideas about how to mitigate that effect or to push it towards something you'd enjoy more, please do share.)

And, yes. The Search page has been broken for a month or so. I still don't know what's wrong with it. In the mean time I've put up the old (really old) Old Search. It's borderline useless, but it actually filters results according to input queries, so... enjoy?

mark a quarter of ten thousand posts as read? ain't nobody got time fo that

I don't know... i think the datum of <x posts unread> is not necessarily a bad datum, i just don't see the need for it to be mentioned twice? also, perhaps "x posts have been made since your last visit" is a more pertinent number to display?
gargh

Well I was going to screenshot the forum's main page and circle the "mark all forums as read" link for you but apparently my Print Screen now only fires 8 minutes after I've hit it, so—hey there it goes again—so…do things with the knowledge I have granted you.

That's the weird thing: everything else was running perfectly normally. But then after I rebooted my irc logs didn't record any of the time while the weird PrintScreen stuff was happening, when I was on there saying things.
