Test thread! (2014-08-25 02:14:34) :
It is also Windows-only (and I'm not going to WINE it when I have GIMP Kolourpaint and Inkscape). I can't afford (or be bothered to pirate) Photoshop (Elements).

Kolourpaint is basically a non-shitty Paintbrush, so probably highly similar to Paint.NET. The only problem I have with it is it uses KDE's open/save window setups, so all my bookmarks in Nemo (GNOME-based) don't show (this may just be a setting or bridging setup I'm missing.)
PNG is like the only common pixel graphics format to support alpha channels. Keep that in mind when saving things.
Will do as soon as I figure out what alpha channels are.

Test thread! (2014-08-25 01:42:55) :
Ah. Never heard of Kolourpaint. I only use GIMP for animation. For actual image manipulation and drawing I use Photoshop Elements. I also use Paint.NET occasionally for quick, tablet-less manipulation because it loads faster, and is also what I used before I got my tablet and PSE. I'd recommend Paint.NET. It has the simplicity of mspaint - which from GIS, Kolourpaint seems similar to - and some of the higher functionality of the better image manipulators like GIMP and Photoshop, like layers and ...

GIMP and Kolourpaint; I know I can do it all in GIMP, but I ended up using Kolourpaint for the rearranging b/c I was too exasperated at layers to re-make them. It's more not wanting to deal with the hassle of figuring it out than not being able to figure it out, tbh. Now I'm overglasses staring at myself because I know it really won't take more than 5 minutes to do.

Speak in Your Conlang Thread (2014-08-24 23:59:50) :
I have the suspicion that it'll sound vaguely like John Cage's "4'33"" and Sigur Rós' "18 sekúndur fyrir sólarupprás".

For those of you on the light theme, sorry but somehow I'm still a noob at making transparent backgrounds.
Well its syntax is really hard to mess up, unless you spell the directory name wrong. Just cd SubdirectoryName.
Yeah, okay, it's not doing anything.
yeah, that's weird. you can just put the commands into a batch file and run the batch. when I'm just tweaking rules and don't need to see any errors, that's what I generally do. Just put the
java -jar toolbox-sca.jar LEXICON.FILE RULES.FILE OUTPUT.FILE
stuff in a batch.

I'm in Windows 7, can't say I've had any problems with the command line, other than it just not being bash.
Ok, putting it in a batch makes it actually do something...
...Haven't you said you were on a *nix before?
Nope. I vaguely remember possibly mentioning my running Windows 7 in the middle of a big OS discussion. You must have misremembered.
Also the fact that cd does nothing in win7 makes me more than a little sad, it's a command common to both the *nixes and MS-DOS.
There's always the possibility that I'm just using it wrong. I have no idea what I'm doing with the command line.

"cd" does absolutely nothing. Should probably note that I'm running Windows 7.

You probably have to cd down to the directory toolbox-sca.jar is in first.
so like
~ $ cd /Downloads
~/Downloads $ java -jar toolbox-sca.jar LEXICON.FILE RULES.FILE OUTPUT.FILE
~/Downloads $ gedit OUTPUT.FILE
That should open up the output file (change names and folders as you need to).
